Mariana — Roman feminine form of Marianus. After the classical era it was frequently interpreted as a combination of Maria and Ana. In Portuguese it is further used as a form of Mariamne.
Saintly namesake: Mariana de Jesús de Paredes was a 17th-century Ecuadorian mystic and is the first canonized saint of Ecuador. She is remembered for her piety and acts of charity. (May 26 · 17th century)
