Khadija means "premature child" in Arabic. This was the name of the Prophet Muhammad's first wife and the mother of all of his children. She was a wealthy merchant and a widow when they married in the year 595. Muhammad received his first revelation 15 years after their marriage, and she was the first person to convert to Islam.
